“Even the gods listen to stories.”
— Orphic Fragment
Mythology Publishing was founded with a single purpose: to awaken the ancient stories that still speak across time. Our vision is to preserve and reimagine the great myths of the world—elevating them through powerful storytelling, artistic reverence, and a deep respect for the cultures that shaped them.
We believe that mythology is more than folklore—it is humanity’s first literature, a map of meaning etched in story. These tales of gods, heroes, and hidden realms reveal how our ancestors made sense of creation, fate, death, and the divine. By breathing new life into these legends, we seek to make them accessible, engaging, and enduring for modern readers.
Each book title is brought to life not only through immersive prose, but also through original black-and-white illustrations inspired by the dramatic style of Michelangelo—evoking the grandeur of classical sculpture and Renaissance devotion.
Our inaugural book series begins with the myths of ancient Greece, unfolding across five volumes that each explore a distinct realm—from the throne of Olympus to the depths of the Underworld. Future collections will journey into Egyptian, Nordic, and other sacred traditions, expanding our library into a truly global archive of myth.
At Mythology Publishing, we are building more than books—we are building a bridge between the ancient and the eternal, inviting every reader to step into the stories that shaped civilization.
At Mythology Publishing, our mission is to preserve the legacy of ancient stories while breathing new life into them for modern readers. We believe mythology is more than myth—it is the soul of human imagination, a bridge between past and present, and a vessel of timeless truth.
Our goal is to craft works that are both intellectually grounded and artistically inspired—uniting historical reverence, cinematic storytelling, and sacred illustration to awaken the old tales in a new light.
We begin with the gods, heroes, and realms of Greek mythology. But our journey will not end there.
In the coming years, we will expand our library to include the mythologies of Egypt, the Norse world, and other ancient civilizations—each approached with the same care, depth, and visual majesty. We envision a global archive of myths reborn, where every book is a doorway, every story a flame passed from one generation to the next.
As our publishing house grows, so too will our offerings. In time, readers will gain access to signed, limited-edition books and illustrations, exclusive collector’s pieces, and immersive resources designed for both personal discovery and educational use. We also envision a growing community of readers, scholars, and seekers—united by a shared reverence for the mythic past and its enduring wisdom.
This is more than a collection of books.
It is a living testament to the stories that shaped civilization—and a call to keep their flame alive.
Michael J. Defosse has a background in the business world and a passion for storytelling. He holds several degrees from Syracuse University, bringing a unique blend of analytical thinking and creative inspiration to his work.
His previous books, primarily focused on finance and risk management, showcased his expertise in his professional field. However, his love for mythology, folklore, and fantasy has guided him toward a new literary adventure.
Growing up in a small town surrounded by nature, he spent his childhood exploring the forest behind his home and fishing in the nearby lake. These early experiences fostered a deep connection with the natural world, allowing his imagination to wander through the myths and legends of ancient cultures. The quiet of the woods and the mysteries of the lake often brought to mind the stories of gods, heroes, and mythical creatures that would later inspire his writing.
With his upcoming five-book series on Greek mythology, Michael combines his lifelong love of mythology with his talent for storytelling. Each book in the series invites readers to explore the ancient world, bringing the timeless tales of the Greek gods and their adventures to life.
Michael hopes his stories will ignite the imaginations of readers of all ages, much as his own imagination was sparked by his childhood walks in the forest.
